Obituary for Ronald P. Buck
RONALD P. BUCK, 79, of Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, December 20, 2021 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Advent Christian Church in Prophetstown, preceded by a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Retired Pastor Andy Ploenzke will be officiating. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. A memorial has been established by the family.
Ron was born January 5, 1942 in Portland Township, Whiteside County, IL, to Ernest M. and Kathryn L. (Ziegenbein) Buck. He was educated in the Prophetstown grade schools and was a 1960 graduate of Prophetstown High School. Following high school Ron attended trade school in the Chicago area. On January 14, 1961 he married Delores Farrell in Prophetstown. She died May 13, 2021. Ron worked at Multi Products in Prophetstown and also as a tool & die maker and machinist at Alcoa in Riverdale, IA. He was a former member of the First Congregational Church in Prophetstown and until recently had been attending Advent Christian Church in Prophetstown. For many years he was a Cub Scout Leader and Scout Master for Boy Scouts, and he also ran the food pantry in Prophetstown for many years. Ron enjoyed fishing, cycling and going on summer vacations with his family.
Survivors include one son, Dr. David (Shujiao) Buck of Skokie, IL; two grandchildren, Marina Buck of Atlanta, GA and Brandon Buck of San Diego, CA; three sisters-in-law, Toni Buck of Prophetstown, Donna (Chuck) Calderon of Prophetstown and Ruth Ross of Grand Detour, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; son, Frank Buck; one sister, Beverly Olalde; one brother, Barry Buck.
