Obituary for Ruth A. Roman-Wagner
RUTH A. ROMAN-WAGNER, 92, of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL. Ruth was born August 29, 1920, in Lebanon, KS, to Jesse S. and Daisy L. (King) Sutton. She was educated in the Lyndon Grade School and was a graduate of Lyndon High School in Lyndon, IL. She married Harley A. Roman on February 5, 1946, in Lyndon, IL. He died February 22, 1971. She later married Marvin F. Wagner on December 27, 1974, in Las Vegas, NV. He died November 15, 1986. Ruth and her late husband, Harley "Pope" Roman owned and operated Roman"s Tavern in Prophetstown, IL. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown. Survivors include one daughter, Jane (David) Morris of Prophetstown, IL; one son-in-law, Donald Shuman of Prophetstown, IL; six grandchildren, Melissa Zanderson, Marti (Gary) Morris-Beckford, Matthew (Carly) Morris, Elyse Morris, Tony Shuman, and Tammy (Scott) Carlson; eight great- grandchildren, Tia and Attie Zanderson; Matthew and Fiona Morris; Allan (Brittany) Carlson; Aaron (fiancee-Teresa Zellner) Carlson; Kaleen and Keegan Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harley Roman and Marvin Wagner; one daughter, Trudy Shuman; three sisters, Geneva Sutton and Eleanor Church and one in infancy; three brothers, Forest Sutton, Donald Sutton and Chester Sutton.
