Obituary for Ruth E. Schutt
RUTH ELLA SCHUTT, 88, of Sterling, IL, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, IL. Ruth was born July 18, 1926 in Prophetstown, IL, to Harry and Inez (Clary) Zarr. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1944 graduate of Prophetstown High School. She married Glenn M. Schutt on October 11, 1945, in Sterling, IL. Ruth was employed as a secretary at the Rock River Ordinance Plant during WWII. She also farmed with her husband, Glenn, in the rural Prophetstown and Rock Falls, IL areas for many years, until retiring in 2006. They then moved to Coventry Village in Sterling, IL. Ruth attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also an active member of the King"s Daughters. Ruth enjoyed baking, gardening, traveling and helping others. Survivors include her husband, Glenn; one daughter, Gloria (Hans) Hollinsworth of Bradenton, FL; one grandson, Brian Ruttenberg; two great grandchildren, Mason James and Tessa Ruth Ruttenberg. She was preceded in death by her parent and one brother, Gilbert Zarr.
