Obituary for Sarah E. Rick
SARAH E. RICK, 84, of 502 Maple Avenue, Morrison, IL, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. Sarah was born July 27, 1928 in Clinton, IA to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Beswick) Hammer. She attended Morrison grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School. Sarah married Harry Rick on December 25, 1947 in Morrison, IL. He died December 15, 2006. She was employed at General Electric in Morrison for 27 years. Sarah was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church and a member of the GEM Club. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, baking, canning, gardening, and traveling. She also enjoyed spending time at the family farm. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Rick of Milwaukee, WI; Debby (Charles) Makarius of Circleville, OH; and Dawn Holt of Beaumont, CA; one son, David (Brenda) Rick of Bayfield, CO; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Lorna Petersen of Scottsdale, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Rick of Clinton, IA; one brother-in-law, John Boland of Morrison, IL;her lifelong best friend, Ardis Trancoso of Sterling, IL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; three sisters, Marjorie Boland, Averil Parker, and Faith Hammer; and one brother, Millard Hammer.
