Obituary for Shirley M. Jones
Shirley M. Jones, 87, of Morrison, IL, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
A private family memorial service with interment at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, will be held. There will be no visitation. Per Shirley’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to Shriners Children's Hospital.
Shirley was born October 6, 1936, in Geneseo, IL, to Anthony and Bernadine (David) Large. She attended Geneseo and Sheffield schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1954. She married Keith Jones in November 1979. He passed away April 14, 2020. Shirley was employed at General Electric in Morrison for 32 years. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, GEM Club and Red Hats in Yuma, AZ. Shirley enjoyed camping, winters in Yuma and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include one daughter Sherry Venhuizen of Morrison, IL; two step sons, Jack (Pam) Jones of Morrison, IL and Joel (Gina) Jones of Rock Falls, IL; one daughter-in-law, Jan Cady of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Amanda) Venhuizen, Monica (Joe) Tolliver, Louie (Missy) Cady, Ginger (Pete) Holesinger, Charlie (Karen) Cady and Dustin (Kayla) Jones; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jake Venhuizen, Cora, Patrick and Emma Tolliver, Hadley and Ryan Cady, William, Isla and Luke Holesinger, Cooper and Dylan Cady, Gabe, Miles, Emberly and Lyla Jones; three sisters-in-law, Julie (Dave) Jennings, Alice Jones and Rita (Ken) Wolf; one brother-in-law, Dale (Julie) Jones; special friends, Barb and Jim Ottens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; one son, Mike Cady; one son-in-law, Rick Venhuizen; her sister and brother-in-law, Marvin and Mary Ann Wiebenga; one brother-in-law, Gary Jones.
