Stan was born October 2, 1946, in Morrison, IL, to the late Byron and Mable (Currie) Urban. He graduated from Annawan High School in 1964 and went on to earn a BS in Animal Science from Western Illinois University. On December 17, 1983 he married Luanne Florschuetz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota, IL. Throughout his life, Stan found fulfillment in both his career and his agricultural pursuits. He worked for Hampshire Swine Registry as a sonoray technician and dedicated himself to farming, where he raised hogs and grain near Hooppole, IL. Stan was committed to his community and served on various boards, including the Henry County Soil and Water Conservation District Board, Henry County Zoning Board and Yorktown Twp. Board. He was a dedicated member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, and also was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Henry County Natural Area Guardians and the Henry County Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: fishing, firing up the grill, playing a lively game of cards, reading a good book, and watching storms pass. Stan had a love for the natural world and enjoyed exploring nature, especially prairies. He enjoyed watching cooking shows and was also an avid Illinois sports fan. Above all, Stan treasured the time spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Luanne; his children, Katia (Cameron) Butler of Hooppole, Jared Urban of Ridgeway, WI, and Derek (Alayna) Urban of Indianapolis, IN; his cherished grandchildren, Kaito and Autumn Butler. He is also survived by his siblings, Janet (Terry) DeDecker of Pleasant Hill, IA and Richard (Nancy) Urban of Signal Mountain, TN, and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
