Obituary for Susan Elizabeth Swanson
SUSAN ELIZABETH SWANSON of Lyndon, IL died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at her home. Susan was born on February 23, in Belleville, IL to Marcel and Dorothy (Schmisseur) Gass. She was educated in St. Augustine of Cantebury Grade School and graduated from Althoff High School in Belleville, IL. Susan received her Bachelor"s Degree from Illinois State University in Normal, IL, and her Master"s Degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. She married Bob Swanson on January 26 in Sterling, IL. She first taught at the Jefferson Elementary School in Sterling, IL. Following that, she taught at the Albany Grade School in Albany, IL from 1979 until its closing. Since 2004 Susan has taught in the Fulton Elementary School in Fulton, IL. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Prophetstown, IL. Survivors include her husband, Bob; two daughters, Beth (Don) Kusch of Lake in the Hills, IL, Jennifer (Andy Feischl) Swanson of Pingree Grove, IL; two sisters, Paty Waelti of Belleville, IL, Gina (Jay) Anderson of Belleville, IL; four brothers, Marvin Gass of Collinsville, IL, Virgil (Alexis) Gass of Pleasanton, CA, Donald (Marita) Gass of Belleville, IL, David (Sue) Gass of Freeburg, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Jane Fields.
