THADDEUS “THAD” DAVID SPECHT, 44, of Moline, IL, formerly of Lyndon, IL, died suddenly Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Prophetstown Chapel of the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home with Rev. Isaac Newman, pastor of Yorktown Church of Christ, officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 3:00 PM until the time of the funeral. Interment will be at Lyndon Township Cemetery in Lyndon, IL. Memorials will be thoughtfully dispersed between two causes that held a special place in Thad’s heart: animal shelters and nature conservation efforts.
Thad was born September 5, 1979, in Morrison, IL, to Adell Newman-Lee and Joseph Specht. He graduated from Erie High School in 1997 and from MTI as a certified welder. He worked for many years as a concrete finisher, plasterer, and builder. He most recently worked at Lowes in Moline. Thad was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, boating and all things in nature. Thad was baptized by immersion at the former Prophetstown Church of Christ in 1988. He had been recently attending Grace Baptist Church in Moline. Thad’s greatest love in life was his daughter, Lillian.
Thad is survived by his daughter, Lillian Specht of Port Bryon; his mother, Adell Newman-Lee of Moline, IL; his father, Joseph (Rita) Specht of Lyndon, IL; one brother, Clayton Newman of Eagle Pass, TX; one stepbrother, Aaron Dail of Erie, IL; one stepsister, Tina Field of Bismark, ND; many nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Keith and Leone Newman and paternal grandmother Naomi Specht.
