Obituary for Velma E. Riggen
VELMA E. RIGGEN, 83, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at Resthave Home in Morrison, IL.
There will be a private family visitation and a graveside service with Rev. Ryan Sutton, pastor of Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Velma was born January 20, 1935, in Morrison, IL, to Ernest W. and Vada (Detra) Rosenow. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. Velma married William H. Riggen on November 18, 1955, in Morrison, IL. She was cafeteria manager at Morrison High School for over 20 years. Velma was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and bird watching.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; two sons, Ernie (Cheryl) Riggen of Morrison, IL and Ray (Deb) Riggen of Baraboo, WI; four grandchildren, Alex (Allison) Riggen, Elliott Riggen, Kira Riggen and Emily Riggen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Mildred Blumhoff, Ellen Gridley, and Darlene Rosenow in infancy.
