Obituary for Virginia A. Wilkens
VIRGINIA A. WILKENS, 87, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at her home. Virginia was born February 8, 1925, in Morrison, IL, to Fall and Ella (Dykhuizen) Decker. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. Virginia married Jay J. Wilkens on March 19, 1946, in Morrison. He died December 10, 2012. She worked in various offices throughout her career, retiring after working for 17 years as a water clerk for the City of Morrison. Virginia was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she was on the Ladies Aid Committee. Her favorite hobby was genealogy and she enjoyed gardening and canning. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them. Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Wilkens of Morrison, IL; Deborah (Gary) Juist of Polo, IL; Ellyn Sue (Charles) Osterday of New Paris, IN; and Cheryl (Brian) Onken of Morrison, IL; one son, Steven (Lou Ann) Wilkens of Lanark, IL; fourteen grandchildren, Sarah (Kristopher) Schmidt, Rachel (Scott) Phillips, Daniel (Jani) Wilkens, Andrew (Raina) Wilkens, Matthew (Britini) Wilkens, Laura (Caleb) Fightmaster, Charles (Kristi) Osterday III, Darrin (Abby) Osterday, Eric (Elizabeth) Osterday, Mitchell Osterday, Adam (Veronica) Miller, Katey Miller, Emily (Cody Hansen) Miller, and Sadie Onken; twenty great-grandchildren, Wade and Madelyn Hackbarth, Jordan, Elizabeth, Gracyn, and Jaicee Schmidt, Jake, Seth, and Ethan Phillips, Anika and Eli Wilkens, Harper Grace Wilkens, Allyson Osterday, Christian Florea, Anna Osterday, Graycen Osterday, Owen, Liam, and Charlotte Osterday, and Kinsley Miller; one sister, Marjorie Hook of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay and one brother, Bernard Decker.
