Obituary for Wesley J. Pessman
WESLEY J. PESSMAN, 93, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at the nursing home. Wesley was born June 7, 1917, to Cornelius and Alice (Schipper) Pessman, in Garden Plain Township, IL. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. He married Alberta K. Wierenga on February 21, 1940, in Fulton, IL. She died September 24, 2010. Wesley engaged in farming in the rural Fulton area his entire life. He was also partner of the former Brinkman and Pessman Lumber Company of Garden Plain and Port Byron, IL. He was a member of the Garden Plain Presbyterian Church and had served as president of the former Garden Plain School District #142. He also served on the Board of Directors of the First Trust and Savings Bank in Albany, IL. Wesley enjoyed traveling, farming and being outdoors. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Pessman of Des Moines, IA and Sally Pessman of Iowa City, IA; two sons, Gregg (Ellen) Pessman and Jeff (Jacklynn) Pessman, both of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Pessman, Jeremy Pessman, Holly (Mark) Kaufman, Sara (Brandon Eble) Pessman and Brandi Pessman; nine great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Wierenga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta; three sisters, Pearl Boerema, Katie Houzenga, Mae Bielema.
