Obituary for Willard M. Jacobs
WILLARD M. JACOBS, 92, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Center. Willard was born April 27, 1923, in Erie, IL, to Edward F. and Ruby M. (Franks) Jacobs, Sr. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and attended Erie High School in Erie, IL. Willard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Jean Harper on November 11, 1947, in Geneseo, IL. She died October 23, 2015. Willard engaged in farming in the rural Erie and Prophetstown area. He later was employed by Rock River Lumber and Grain in Lyndon and Prophetstown, IL. Willard was a member of Prophetstown American Legion Post #522, Prophetstown Lodge AF & AM, and Valley of Moline. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing cards. Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" (Claudia) Jacobs and Randy (Marilyn) Jacobs both of Prophetstown, IL; six grandchildren, William Jacobs, Jr., Shawn (Dustin Wilson) Jacobs, Jennifer (Jamie) Etheridge, Michelle Beauford, Matthew (Amber) Jacobs and Christopher Jacobs; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Loralie (Darrell) Morse of Prophetstown, IL; and one brother, Laverne (Elsie) Jacobs of Erie, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; two sisters, Clara Dillon and Mary Ann Posley; two brothers, LeRoy Jacobs and Edward Jacobs, Jr.
