Obituary for William C. Rice
WILLIAM C. RICE, 87, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at his home. William was born January 4, 1925, in Coleta, IL, to William J. and Mabel J. (Vaughn) Rice. He was educated in the Malvern School of rural Whiteside County, IL. He married Ardythe A. James on May 2, 1948, in Morrison, IL. William was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area until 1961. He then worked as service manager for the Minneapolis Implement Dealership in Erie, IL. Later, he was employed by Drives, Inc. in Fulton, IL, for 26 years, until retirement. William was a former member of the Rock Falls Eagles Club and a member of the Sterling-Rock Falls Amateur Radio Society. He was an avid sportsman including fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Ardythe; one daughter, Jamie (Steve) Todd of Morton, IL; one son, William A. (Diana) Rice of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Nathan (Trisha) Todd, Carrie (Doug) McCarty, Dana (William) Thomas, William (Chastidy) Rice, Jessica Waddell, and Michelle (Cory) Chatman; seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Bertrand Rice of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gladys Courtwright, Mildred Ogan, Alice Hagland, and Marjorie Forder; two brothers, Norman and Malcolm Rice.
