Obituary for William E. Drehmer
WILLIAM E. DREHMER, 75, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. William was born August 5, 1935, in Ogle County, IL, to William and Jeannette M. (Taylor) Drehmer. He was educated in the Lyndon, IL grade schools and graduated from Lyndon High School. He married Elaine J. Brackemeyer on June 17, 1955 in Morrison. She died December 31, 2000. William held several jobs before retiring, including Kraft Foods in Milledgeville, IL 1955-1957; Frantz Mfg. 1957-1958; Skip"s Standard Station 1958-1962; General Electric 1962-1966; Bull Produce Trucking 1966-1969. In 1969 he went to work at Al"s Standard Station in Morrison, which he later bought and then operated until 1994. He then worked for R.C. Smith Transportation 1994-1998; Whiteside County Sheriff"s Office 1997-2006. He was a member of the Morrison Fire Department for 13 years and the Morrison Lions Club, where he served as District Zone Chairman for 5 years. William bowled in leagues for over 45 years. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Survivors include one daughter, Connie (Socorro) Ruiz of Fulton, IL; two sons, Wesley (Judy) Drehmer and Brian Drehmer, both of Morrison; four granddaughters, two grandsons, two step granddaughters, five step great grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Holcomb; one brother, Carl (Patricia) Drehmer of Shannon, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; one step granddaughter.
