Obituary for Wilma A. Johnson
WILMA A. JOHNSON, 92, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at the center. Wilma was born May 26, 1920, in Rock Falls, IL, to Frank and Jennie (Oltmann) Plautz. She was educated in the Allpress Grade School in Rock Falls, IL. Wilma married Orval W. Johnson on August 9, 1939, in Rock Falls, IL. He died May 18, 1996. She farmed with her late husband, in Plainview, NE from 1941 until 1962. When they returned to Prophetstown, IL, they then operated the Prophet Motel for 8 years after which they again engaged in farming. She also worked for Drummet"s Hardware in Prophetstown. Wilma was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and served on the church"s council. She was a member and past president of WELCA. Wilma was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Prophet Hills Country Club in Prophetstown. Her hobbies include sewing, crocheting, gardening, and flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were an important part of her pastime. Survivors include two daughters, Nyla (Joe) Pavelec of Green Lake, WI and Karen (Dan) Buck of Prophetstown, IL; three sons, Orval (Connie) Johnson, Ron (Joan) Johnson, and Denny (Sally) Johnson all of Prophetstown, IL; twelve grandchildren, Scott Pavelec, Brad (Nicole) Pavelec, Trent (Karyn) Buck, Maggie (Jay) Linden, Kim (Joel) Jara, Reid (Tara) Johnson, Marcus (Gwen) Johnson, Michelle (Todd) Wetzell, Megan Haggard, Andrew (Erin Zlomek) Johnson, Adam (Melanie) Johnson, and Christopher Johnson; and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval; one granddaughter, Nicole Pavelec; two sisters, Hazel Sandrock and Marie Polte; five brothers, Herman, Walter, Johnny, Harold and Delbert Plautz.
