Obituary for Gladys M. Babwroski
GLADYS M. BABROWSKI, 100, of Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Allure of Prophetstown.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown, with Rev. Father Atoni J. Kretowicz officiating. There will be a visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 1st, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Leon Cemetery – Prophetstown, IL. Memorials to St. Catherine Catholic Church and the Arthritis Foundation have been established.
Gladys was born on August 30, 1920, in Prophetstown, to Glenn M. and Sylvia M. (Beebe) Brooks. She was educated in the Prophetstown Grade and High Schools. On July 17, 1943 she married Barney P. Babrowski in Prophetstown. She was first employed by International Harvester in East Moline, IL and Fresh Pak in Moline, IL. She later worked for Micro Gear in Prophetstown. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown. Gladys enjoyed playing cards, flower gardening, bird watching, handicrafts and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn (Arthur) Norton of Tampico, IL; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) Witmer and Matthew (Tara) Lucas; seven great grandchildren, Abbagail and Zachary Witmer, Alyssa, Hailey, Conner and Tamara Lucas, Blake Wisley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney; one sister, Florence VanDeWostine; one brother, Earl Brooks.
