Obituary for Irma J. Decker
Irma J. Decker of Prophetstown died on Saturday, May 15, 2021 in her home at the age of 72. She was born in Morrison to John and Anna Strating. She graduated from Erie High School in the Class of 1966. Irma married her high school class sweetheart and the love of her life, Neil Decker, in Erie and they were married for 52 years.
She worked for the Fidelity Life Insurance Company in Fulton for a short time. Then she stayed home as a homemaker and raised their two children.
Survivors include her husband, Neil Decker; their son, Matthew (Michelle) Decker; and their daughter, Marianne (Kenneth) Springsteen. Also surviving are her sisters, Betty (Delbert) Nissen, Barbara Fetterolf, and Evelyn (Dale) Hanson; brother-in-law, Gene Voss; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding Irma in death are her parents; her sisters, Beverly Voss, and Ilene (Dayle) Snyder; her brother-in-law, Berkley Fetterolf; and a niece, Adele Nissen.
Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held prior to the service, at the funeral home on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 12:00 PM with the funeral service starting at 2:00PM. Mr. Ken Renkes will be officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Memorials have been established to Rock River Hospice and Home – Sterling, IL, and Dr. Brent Ohl Strong Pancreatic Cancer Support, and Awareness Endowment Fund.
