Obituary for Irma L. Swanson
IRMA L. SWANSON, 88, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, January 2, 2021, at her home.

A private family funeral service will be held at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral home preceded by a private family visitation. Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of CrossView Church in Fulton, will officiate. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to CrossView Ladies Aid Society.

Irma was born November 13, 1932, in Fulton, IL, to John and Dena (Sikkema) DeWeerdt. She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was a graduate of Fulton High School. Irma was employed for 33 years by General Electric in Morrison, IL. She was a member of CrossView Church formerly Second Reformed Church in Fulton and the church’s Ladies Aid Society. Irma was a member of the GEM Club and the Fulton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Windmill in Fulton and at Dutch Days in the information booth. Irma enjoyed snowmobiling and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include two daughters, Patti (Jim) Susan of Dixon, IL and Julie (John) Domansky of Etowah, NC; one son, Cal (Cindy) Swanson of Clinton, IA; eight grandchildren, Tyler (Liz Holley) Swanson, Taylor (Anna) Swanson, Lacey (Andrew) Easton, Jenise (Tony) Esparza, Kelly Susan, James Susan II, Jordan (Dawn) Kettler, and Ian Domansky; eight great-grandchildren, Beckett and Arabella Swanson, Addie and Brenner Vance, Kaylynn Johnson, Brooklyn Mangum, James Susan III, and Valerie Kettler; two sisters, Arlene Dykema of Fulton, IL, and Judy Dykstra of Waupun, WI; four brothers, Robert (Carol) DeWeerdt of Georgetown, TX; Leon (Elsie) DeWeerdt, Larry DeWeerdt, and Gene (Diane) DeWeerdt all of Mesa, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Eunice Norman, Lois DeWeerdt, Betty Merema, and Beverly Bonneur; six brothers, Arthur, Vernon, Marvin, Arnold, Russell, and James DeWeerdt.
