Obituary for Margie L. Carlson
MARGIE L. CARLSON, 100, of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Allure of Prophetstown.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the First Lutheran Church of Prophetstown with visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Pastor Chelsey Olson-Weech will be officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Tampico Memorial Cemetery in Tampico, IL. A memorial has been established to First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown.
Margie was born August 7, 1919, in rural Prophetstown to August and Letha (Whipple) Carlson. She attended Prophetstown Grade Schools and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. She furthered her education at Northern College in DeKalb, now known as Northern Illinois University. Margie started her teaching career at a country school called Highland, and then taught in the Tampico School System for 40 years until retiring. She was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending her quilting group every Monday morning at the church. Margie also loved to take long walks every day when the weather allowed for it.
Survivors include many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.
