Obituary for Marilyn J. Temple
MARILYN J. TEMPLE, 85, of Erie, IL, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at her home. Marilyn was born October 7, 1926, in Fulton, IL, to John and Anna (Shipma) VanVuren. She was educated in the Fulton Grade School and was a 1944 graduate of Fulton High School. She married Louis G. Temple on April 11, 1945 in Erie, IL. He died October 15, 1990. Marilyn and her husband, Louis, farmed in the rural Erie area from 1946 until retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Newton Zion Reformed Church, Erie, IL, and was involved with the church"s Ladies Aid Society. She was a volunteer at the King"s Kloset in Erie, and was also a former member of the Clinton County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren, reading, flower gardening, cross stitch, jigsaw and cross word puzzles. She was an Avid Cubs Fan. Survivors include five daughters, Marcia (Perry) Rock of Bloomington, IL, Sharon (Alan) Gillis of Manteno, IL, Cindy (Jim) Wherry of Fulton, IL, Lori (Ed) Nicklaus of Sterling, IL, and Mary (Bob) Cobert of Fenton, IL; one son, Duane (Stephanie) Temple of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren, Scott (Connie) Rock, Melissa (Andrew Jacobs) Gillis, Amy (Scott) Maupin, Staci Wherry, Alex Wherry, Robby Cobert, Courtney Cobert, Rachel Cobert, Cassandra Temple, Daniel (Amber) Temple, Jeremy Temple; five great grandchildren, Shelby, Carley and Kale Maupin, Lily and Emma Gillis Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; one son, in infancy; two sisters, Catherine Peters and Genevieve Rosenow; one brother, John VanVuren Jr.
