Obituary for Susan M. Susie Engelkens
SUSAN M. "SUSIE" ENGELKENS, 86, of 601 W. Wall Street, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday July 10, 2012 at Morrison Community Hospital. Susie was born April 18, 1926, in Morrison, to Floyd N. and Gertrude B. (Birely) Welch. She was educated in the Morrison grade schools. She married Edd R. Engelkens Sr. on August 25, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. He died on January 10, 1998. Susie was employed by General Electric Co. in Morrison for 19 years, retiring in 1986. She attended the First Baptist Church in Morrison, and was a member of the GEM Club. Susie enjoyed playing bingo and going to the riverboat casino. Survivors include her step mother, Bessie Bush of Lyndon, IL; five daughters, Pil (Jerry) Scott of Morrison, IL, Nancy (Tom) Wallander of Cedar Rapids, IA, Linda Fellows of Hickory, NC, Debra (Ted Schminkey) Lowery of Morrison, IL and Trudy Eads of Brooklyn, IA; three sons, Edd (Paulette) Engelkens Jr. of Morrison, IL, Mike (Tammy) Engelkens of Rock Falls, IL, and Rick (Mary) Engelkens of Morrison, IL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; one half brother, Kenneth Welch of Lyndon, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; Edd; one son: Darrell, in infancy; three great grandchildren, Courtney Marweg, Jessica Kuehl, Noah Yamilkoski; five sisters, Lela Johnson, Lottie Starr, Ella Heath, Wanda Calhoun, Iona Wilkerson; two brothers, Irvin and James Welch.
