Obituary for Vivian Ann Vogel
VIVIAN ANN VOGEL, 94, of Sunny View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ankeny, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton, IL, preceded by a visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. The Rev. Edie Lenz of First Reformed Church in Fulton will officiate. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery. A memorial to First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, has been established.
Vivian was born March 8, 1924, in Clinton, IA, to Ezra J. and Lillian (Hartson) Welch. She attended and graduated from schools in Lyons and Clinton, IA. Vivian married Elmer J. Vogel on November 7, 1942, in Kahoka, MO. Elmer served in the army during WWII, and Vivian followed him to each stateside military facility to which he was assigned and took jobs to help the war effort. When Elmer went overseas, Vivian returned to Clinton. She worked as a typist at the Schick Hospital in Lyons and then at the Burpee Seed Company. Most of her career was spent as the payroll supervisor at the Patented Novelty Co, later named Fulton Corporation. Elmer died January 20, 2010. They were married for 68 years. Vivian was a member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL. In her younger years, she taught children’s Sunday school, directed children’s choir, and was a member of King’s Daughters. She also worked several years at the Fulton Food Pantry. Vivian spent many years as a caretaker for her mother, her husband, and other family members. She loved dogs; she also enjoyed listening to Gaither music and spending time with family.
Survivors include her son Martin K. (Judith) Vogel of Ankeny, IA; four grandchildren, Alyssa Vogel, Amanda (Craig) Robinson, Aaron (Erin) Vogel, and Amy (Eugene) Wagner; five great-grandchildren, Luke Robinson, Alice and Madeline Vogel, Matthew and Michael Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; brother, Roy Welch; three step sisters, Madge Morey, Bernice Lees, and Evelyn Nielson.
